I finally know the meaning of "scared shitless". The female toilet at Novena Square is somewhere I would not go anymore.
Desperately in need of a pee, I ran to the 1st available cubicle. Everything was normal till I heard a loud, long shrill...it was piercing....I was stumped, don't know how to react...but was calm enough to use my phone to call Sadiq who was waiting outside the toilet. I beckoned him to come inside the toilet. Once I hear his voice outside the cubicle, I immediately dashed out. I was totally frantic. Another loud shrill followed...Sadiq did hear the 1st one too...
I still couldn't put a finger to what had happened...was it a ringtone? Or something/someone was hurt? If I was calm, I would have gone into the toilet and checked...but clearly I was not...
Back home, I was speculating what that might be:a gal's shout that was both long and loud, and seems done in a single breath...ringtone? prank?...trying hard not to think too much...otherwise public toilets I would avoid...that is gonna be an inconvenience...
Scary thoughts go away, don't come again...go far far away.

If its loud, means its far away. If it's soft, means its near. Me and a group of friends once encountered something like that, and its near.
