Was just telling Jo earlier on the phone that my night shift so far has been smooth...haha, I forgot to touch wood after that...
Around 0300hrs, while I was running the night audit at the EDP room, I received a call. My security officer requested for my urgent presence at the restaurant. Sounded serious...anyhow, I calmly proceeded to the scene...
When I reached, I saw one of my security guard pinning a man against the wall. Truthfully, I was a little scared, if the guy was armed and would injure anyone of us....I tried to gather information before taking action...the information was brief and not concrete enough to show that the pinned man was guilty...
The 2 security officers were going to call the police...I intervened and spoke to the man...I introduced myself and asked how I should address him...Used his name and asked politely what was inside his bag...I explained that we need his assistance and cooperation. Checked through his plastic bags and found nothing that belonged to the hotel...only memorabilia from Navy's open house...
He asked if he could leave now...I said yes and thanked him for the cooperation. At the same time, I explained why my security officers behaved that way...they are responsible in the security and safety of the hotel in general and as the man was behaving in a suspicious manner, we need to verify his ID. Since that was not obtained and guest tried to run away, the security officers were full on...Guest said he understand but also asked them to be more polite...haha, I know how crude/impolite my SO are...i can fully relate to that...
Anyway, from this...what showed up for me was if i made people at ease, they will be at ease too and open up...:)
Gotta go log this incident down...
